Founded in 2001, the Progressive Maryland Education Fund (PMEF) is an educational nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that improves the lives of working families in our state through non-partisan leadership training, non-partisan voter registration of historically disenfranchised minorities, public policy research, public education, and advocacy. As working families in Maryland are disproportionately of-color, our work often focuses on the needs of minority communities. PMEF's research on living standards, public education, campaign finance and tax policy has been covered by most of the major media outlets in the state.

Our democracy in Maryland is weak when only 2/3 of registered voters participate in state elections for governor, or only 1/3 in primary elections. Voting is our most fundamental civil right and civic responsibility. So for information how to register, get absentee ballots, polling places, or anything else related to elections, visit the Maryland Board of Elections website, or contact Progressive Maryland's Silver Spring or Baltimore offices.
